Ecotecture® Founder Philip S. Wenz has over 30 years of design and construction
experience, most of it in residential remodeling in San Francisco's East Bay area. For
over 20 years, he has taught a variety of courses, including Housebuilding and Remodeling,
Cabinet Making, Finish Carpentry and Creating an Ecological House at the Building Education
Center (formerly the Owner Builder Center) in Berkeley, California.
He is a licensed General Contractor and has a combined Master's Degree in Architecture and Ecological Design from the San Francisco Institute of Architecture (SFIA), where he was the Founder and former Director of the Ecological Design Program. Mr. Wenz is the author of the nationally available book, Adding to a House (Taunton Press, Fine Homebuilding Magazine, 1995), and the forthcoming Ecotecture®: Designing a Sustainable Future. He currently divides his time between his design practice and his latest project, ECOTECTURE®: The Online Journal of Ecological Design.
